My Experience Using LinkedIn
I created a LinkedIn profile in search of a job. At the time LinkedIn was becoming a popular platform to find jobs and build your network. When I created my profile it felt as though I was advertising myself so I basically added information that applied to my brand and the field I was interested. I filled out all the necessary information i.e my educational background, skills, country, etc. I also added a professional photo to showcase myself.
After I secured my first real job in the cooperate world I stepped away from LinkedIn for a while. I found myself using the platform again when users started posting resourceful information some of which I used for assignments. I thought the platform was just for job siting after doing some more diving I saw that it can be used for blogging, sharing content, research and advertising. While the platform is mainly used for professional branding and managing your career. It can be used for a lot more.

The platform currently have over 1.3 billion members globally. Now isn't that a crazy amount of exposure. Many companies have taken the opportunity to create a company page bringing more engagement to their establishment. It has become a go to platform people search for businesses that peak their interests to gain a bit of intel.
Some organizations even show you their employees. Let's say you're applying to an organization and you'd like to learn about your hiring manager. You just search the company and it can direct you to the managers profile under employees. This allows you to learn more to build conversation. Based on your research you could've found something you have in common, maybe you went to the same college and so on. This is just to show how LinkedIn can be used at your leverage.
Here's an example of how the people within the organization are displayed:
As shown in the image you'll be able to see the name of the employee as well as their employment status within the company.
While there is a lot of benefits with using LinkedIn there's also cons.
LinkedIn Cons
π It can be time consuming to consistently post
π The wide scope of users makes it harder to stand out to a recruiter
π You can receive spam messages
π To reach candidates beyond your network you must promote your job post.
π High cost to go premium
π Privacy concerns
Like all things of this world there's good and bad it all depends on how we use it.
